This is the loop above Pacific Palisades in the Santa Monica Mountains out to the old Murphy Ranch — a 1930s compound, abandoned for decades and now covered in layers of graffiti, with a long concrete staircase as the signature landmark. The Sullivan Canyon / Sullivan Ridge fire-road loop is the usual way around. It’s a popular, easy-access hike, so go early for the quiet.
