Snowshoeing Mt. Pinos

If you go
Mt. Pinos (8,847 ft) is the high point of the area, up in the Los Padres National Forest off I-5 near Frazier Park, and in winter it’s the closest reliable snowshoe and Nordic spot to LA. The road plows to a point and you travel from there. It’s also one of the best dark-sky sites in Southern California — long an astronomer favorite — and a sacred site to the Chumash, so tread accordingly.
