The group peak of WTC, where we snowshoed and camped in the snow near Mammoth and Bishop.

This was the culminating snow trip of the course — snowshoe in, build camp on the snowpack, sleep out in it. The high country off the 395 near Bishop, in the Inyo National Forest, is where a lot of SoCal folks learn winter camping. It’s real avalanche and cold-exposure terrain, which is the whole point of doing it with instruction first.
