Yellowstone was the world’s first national park, set over a supervolcano whose heat drives the geyser basins, hot springs, and mudpots. Staying at Old Faithful puts you on those basins after the crowds leave, when steam and stars and the occasional eruption line up — and the bison and bears are a constant reminder it’s wild.
