LA under snow
Historic snows local to LA. We snuck out to a park near the Culver Steps to get a shot of Griffith and downtown with snow in the background. I had a friend ski Mt. Lukens, which I was jealous of — that’s a very unique thing to say you skied in LA proper.
The context
The late-February and March 2023 storms were the real deal, dropping snow on the San Gabriels and Santa Monicas to unusually low elevations and putting a white backdrop behind the downtown skyline. Mt. Lukens (5,074 ft) is the highest point inside Los Angeles city limits, so skiing it is a genuine ‘I skied in LA’ flex that almost never lines up.
