Background

Cathedral Rock is one of Sedona’s signature formations — a short, hands-on slickrock scramble to a saddle between the spires, with one of the most photographed views in the area. It sits above Oak Creek in the Coconino National Forest.

If you go

Cathedral Rock is short but it’s a real slickrock scramble — about a mile and a half round trip with hands-on rock near the top, and a payoff view that’s one of the most photographed in Sedona. The catch is access: the trailhead lot is tiny and fills fast, so on busy days you take the Sedona shuttle instead of driving to it. Sunset is the move. Visit Sedona.
