The closest LA ski resort — blizzard one weekend and dirt the next. But generally good vibes.

If you go

Mountain High in Wrightwood is the closest resort to LA, about a 90-minute drive, which is its whole pitch: ski a half day and be home for dinner. The flip side is exactly what you’d expect from a low, south-facing SoCal mountain — the snow is fickle, it leans hard on snowmaking, and a big week can be followed by a week of dirt. Go right after a storm, on a weekday if you can; the weekend lift lines are the LA tax.
