If you go

The White Rim Road is about 100 miles around Island in the Sky, normally done over two to three days, and it requires a permit (day-use and overnight, through Recreation.gov) plus high-clearance 4WD. There’s no water out there, so you carry every drop. The Shafer and Mineral Bottom switchbacks are the dramatic bookends. A stock rig will do it — ours did — but go slow and air down.
