Sawtooth Gap

August 30, 202636.4529°N 118.5936°W

Trip write-up pending — Carter’s own account goes here.

The place

Sawtooth Pass sits at about 11,600 ft above Mineral King, in the southern reach of Sequoia National Park. It is the shortest line from a trailhead into the Great Western Divide, and it is short because it is steep: roughly 3,600 ft of gain in a little over four miles, most of it on loose decomposed granite above the last trees.

Beta

Distances and gain to be confirmed against the recorded track.
