A mini birthday trip with my dad to go hike the Grand Canyon. We met in Phoenix, started in Sedona, did the Devil’s Bridge hike, the Cathedral, and some great Italian food.

Sedona sits in Arizona’s red-rock country, where the Mogollon Rim drops into a maze of sandstone buttes and spires — Cathedral Rock, Bell Rock, Devil’s Bridge — all glowing at sunset. It’s also a halfway warm-up on the drive from Phoenix up to the Grand Canyon.
If you go
Sedona’s red rocks make a perfect warm-up stop on the drive from Phoenix to the Grand Canyon. Devil’s Bridge and Cathedral Rock are the two icon hikes (more on each in the next posts). You’ll need a Red Rock Pass to park at most trailheads, and the popular ones run shuttles in busy seasons because the lots overflow by mid-morning. Visit Sedona.
